The Art of Living
The Discourses are a collection of informal lectures by the Stoic philosopher Epictetus, written down by his student Arrian around 108 AD.
Unlike abstract philosophy, Epictetus focuses on practical wisdom: how to live a life of freedom and tranquility by distinguishing between what is in our control (our thoughts, actions) and what is not (reputation, wealth, others’ opinions).
